South Island Rep Tournament Information
The South Island Tournaments are for Boys and Girls aged 11 to 16 to represent their Districts in a festival of football.
Over 100 teams from Mainland Football and Football South come together at tournaments across the South Island in the September / October school holidays.
The aim of the Representative Programme is to provide professional, fun and friendly training sessions to help players improve in both technique and decision making. Vision and awareness, proactive passing, proactive defending, receiving & turning as well as other important skill/tactical aspects of the game will be emphasised. Coaches will enhance players’ learning experience by setting up a training environment where the game itself will be the main teacher.
Our main objective is to enhance the overall development of our youth football players and help them to reach their maximum potential. Thus, the Otago representative programme will focus on meeting the mental, physical, social, and technical/tactical needs of the players.
For the purpose of our youth development, our philosophy is not only about winning on the scoreboard, it’s also about winning in terms of performance.
